Herbs are traditional medicine all over the world, and a great many modern pharmaceuticals are derived from plant compounds. Chinese herbal medicine is a highly developed and sophisticated way to use plant and animal products in the treatment of disease. The Chinese herbal pharmacopeia includes over 400 herbs from all over Asia and the world. These herbs are skillfully and elegantly combined into formulas that are tailored to the needs of the individual patient. In the hands of a trained herbalist, Chinese herbs are very safe and very effective in the treatment of many complaints. I am certified in Chinese herbology through the National Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. I stock my pharmacy with high quality, unsulfured herbs that have been tested for pesticides and contaminants.

Shiatsu is a form of energetic bodywork from Japan. It utilizes the same meridians of energy flow as acupuncture, only instead of stimulating them with needles, we use thumb and finger pressure. You receive a treatment fully clothed, and the whole body is treated in every session. Shiatsu is deeply therapeutic with lasting effects, and works on many levels of the whole person: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It is also a good choice for those who are interested in trying Asian therapies but just can’t face the needles required for acupuncture. I find shiatsu to be unsurpassed in its ability to treat the whole person. Treat yourself or a loved one to this remarkable therapy.
More information about shiatsu, including photographs of treatments, can be found at www.itmonline.org - shiatsu section.
While physical therapy is not offered as a stand alone treatment option, many of my treatments incorporate techniques I have acquired in my career as a physical therapist. Such skills include musculoskeletal assessment, manual muscle testing, exercise prescription, joint mobilization, deep tissue massage and trigger point release. I have quite a bit of experience in orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation, and am familiar with rehab strategies for conditions such as stroke, brain injury, fractures and orthopedic surgeries.
